Step 1: Download The Ooorgle IRC Client  

Step 2: Unzip the Ooorgle IRC Client using WinRar (or another unzipping utility)

Step 3: Go Register a GameSurge Account  

Step 4: In the folder you unzipped the Ooorgle IRC Client to, find perform.ini and open it using notepad (normally just double click it)

Step 5: IN PERFORM.INI : Where it says "n0=All Networks,/nick oooRGLE-G|NewIrcUser" ChangeoooRGLE-G|NewIrcUser to your desired chat name.

    Example: I would put in "n0=All Networks,/nick oooRGLE-CEO|2k" for myself.

Step 6: IN PERFORM.INI : Where it says "n1=All Networks,/as auth account password" , put in your gamesurge account name and username (you should have gotten an e mail in step 3, give it a few min.

    Example: I would put in ""n1=All Networks,/as auth Ooorgle2k mypassword"

Step 7: Double Click mirc.exe to run mirc, now you are 100% good to go.

Some useful irc commands:

/j #channelname ; joins a specified channel (chat room)

/q name ; opens a message box to a specific user (you can also double click)

/hop ; rejoins a channel

/list ; lists all channels on the irc network

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a form of real-time Internet chat or synchronous conferencing. It is mainly designed for group (many-to-many) communication in discussion forums called channels, but also allows one-to-one communication and data transfers via private message.

IRC was created by Jarkko "WiZ" Oikarinen in late August 1988 to replace a program called MUT (MultiUser talk) on a BBS called OuluBox in Finland. Oikarinen found inspiration in a chat system known as Bitnet Relay, which operated on the BITNET.

IRC gained prominence when it was used to report on the Soviet coup attempt of 1991 throughout a media blackout. It was previously used in a similar fashion by Kuwaitis during the Iraqi invasion. Relevant logs are available from ibiblio archive.

IRC client software is available for virtually every computer operating system.
